Title: Variable Cam Timing Operation and Diagnosis

Description:

This class will focus on VCT operation, theory, and diagnostics. Case studies will be used to illustrate the diagnostic approach.  Domestic, Asian and European vehicles will be discussed.  A strong emphasis will be placed on testing techniques using both the scan tool and a lab scope.  

Learner Outcomes: 

  • A five (5) step approach to diagnosing VCT issues 
  • How to identify and separate VCT electrical issues, mechanical issues and hydraulic issues 
  • How different vehicle manufacturers display cam position info on the scan tool 
  • Leave the class with a diagnostic approach for diagnosing difficult VCT problems
