Title: CAN Bus Diagnostics

Description:

CAN Bus failures are very common on modern day vehicles.  This class will assist the technician in both understanding CAN Bus operation and CAN Bus diagnostics.  A strong focus will be placed on wiring diagram usage, correct tooling for the particular issue and how to implement a diagnostic strategy based on the concern.  

Learner Outcomes: 

  • Acquire a clear understanding of CAN Bus operation with a strong focus on the physical layer 
  • Understand the pro's and con's of three popular CAN Bus testing tools: the ohmmeter, the voltmeter and the lab scope 
  • See a variety of diagnostic approaches to CAN Bus issues thru instructor led case studies
  • Leave the class with a diagnostic strategy for diagnosing CAN Bus faults
