Ben Johnson, Director of Product Management at Mitchell 1, manages product strategy, roadmaps and development for Mitchell 1’s portfolio of products. He joined Mitchell 1 in 2012. Over the past decade, Johnson helped launch key product lines and new features within Mitchell 1’s repair information and shop management portfolio. These include Mitchell 1’s flagship ProDemand® repair information product; SureTrack expert-based diagnostic resource; Manager™ SE, the industry’s leading shop management system; and TruckSeries, the only comprehensive repair information suite of its kind available for Class 4-8 trucks. As a frequent presenter at industry events, Johnson maintains several ASE certifications and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International. He also serves on the Auto Care Association’s (ACA) Tool & Equipment and Emerging Technologies committees, and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA) Telematics Working Group. He is Past President of the Equipment & Tool Institute (ETI) Executive Committee and has also served as Chairman of the ACA Technology Standards Committee. Prior to joining Mitchell 1, he held positions of increasing responsibility in the automotive aftermarket industry. In 1991, he joined SPX Corporation and held positions as a Training Instructor and Product Manager of Diagnostic Platforms. He worked for the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association as Project Manager, responsible for the i.shop connectivity standard; at Delphi’s Product and Service Solutions group as Product Manager for their global diagnostics and training product portfolio; and at ALLDATA, where he was responsible for the mechanical repair product lines. Johnson launched his career in 1979 as an automotive technician out of High School. Today, he continues to maintain his own fleet of vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles and boats). He also enjoys discussing the challenges that repair shops face in a world where vehicles continue to increase in technical complexity, as well as opportunities that lie ahead for vehicle repair shops. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Northwood University.
